The Purdue Jazz Festival
This year, our jazz program is embarking on a true jazz immersion weekend, attending the Purdue Jazz Festival on January 16-17. This is a first for our program, and to say I am excited about this opportunity for our students is a gross understatement. We will begin by seeing a fantastic concert by Chris Potter's Underground Quartet; Potter was recently named Downbeat Magazine's Saxophonist of the Year, and is unbelievable. From there, on Saturday we will see some great clinics, masterclasses, and performances, as well as perform for a panel of very qualified judges at 4:00. Click the Purdue logo to the right to see the complete schedule.
I have attached a PDF with some information about the weekend, including times, hotel information, requirements, etc. There is a sheet that needs to filled out and returned to me the day we get back from break at the latest...we will be rehearsing on January 2nd, so that would be a GREAT day to return the form and the $85 check for the event. Checks can be made payable to OHS Bands, and if you wish to use student accounts for the trip, just check the box and we will take care of switching the money over. We also need two chaperones to come along...let me know if you would like to come along on this awesome experience. |
