Ryan Miller
A native of Chicagoland, Ryan Miller received his B.M. from Northern Illinois University in 1990 and his M.M. from Roosevelt University in Chicago in 2004 and has since has played with the bands of Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey and backed artists Aretha Franklin, Natalie Cole, Audra McDonald, Mel Torme, Regis Philbin, and Gino Vanelli. He has worked with with numerous Chicago area bands including The Chicago Jazz Ensemble, The Skyliners Big Band, The New Standard Big Band, and rock cover-band supreme Tributosaurus. Classical credits include Chicago Chamber Orchestra, The Illinois Philharmonic, The Peoria Symphony, The Heartland Festival Orchestra, The Windy City Brass Quintet, and The Chicago Trombone Quartet. He is also a theater musician for Broadway in Chicago ("The Lion King", "Motown", "The Book of Mormon", and most recently "Chicago") and for productions at The Goodman Theater, Drury Lane in Oakbrook, The Marriott Theater - Lincolnshire, The Paramount Theater in Aurora, and Writers Theater in Glencoe. He has held adjunct faculty positions at Bradley University and Wheaton College.
Ryan began teaching young musicians in 1992 and started Learn to Make Music with wife and fellow musician Debra Miller in 2009. Ryan and Debra together have three children who are all professional musicians. |
