What an incredible weekend of music!!! The Wind Symphony concluded months of hard work with an incredible weekend in Indianapolis. The weekend started with a convocation welcoming the 2600 people involved in the weekend. The WS had a performance at the beautiful Clowes Hall at Butler University, viewed by many of the best high school bands in America. They played a difficult set of music, including "Candide", "Watchman, Tell Us of the Night", "Army of the Nile", and "Concertino for Four Percussion". Following the concert, the WS had an unforgettable clinic with one of the best in the business, George Mason Director of Bands Anthony Maiello. Friday started with watching some amazing concerts from some of the other schools. Following that was an opportunity to attend masterclasses on the students' main instruments, conducted by some of the best instrumentalists and educators in America. The night concluded with a truly inspiring concert featuring the Jazz Band of America, featuring guest artist Wycliffe Gordon on trombone. Saturday was a day enjoying the other bands, with the weekend concluding in a gala dinner reception; we hardly even minded they pronounced our school's name wrong. :)

After a comprehensive search and three candidates coming in to work with the bands, we are excited to announce that Jim Hile will be taking over for Mrs. San Roman when she goes on maternity leave next month. Mr. Hile retired from Highland Park High School with one of the best and most well-rounded band programs in Illinois, and we are very excited he has agreed to join our team here for a few weeks. He will start right after spring break, pending Baby San Roman's schedule;)
