IMEA Jazz audition information
This year’s IMEA auditions occur on Tuesday, October 5th, at Addison Trail High School. If you are chosen to participate, the festival occurs all day on Saturday, November 13th, at St. Charles North High School.
Every instrument has to play their part from the song “Kaomah”, which you should have received in your packets. To listen or download this song, see the link below.
Also, you must play the song “Lunar” out of the Jim Snidero book, which again, you should have in your packet. Each instrument has their own recording, which you can listen to or download by using the below links. (we don’t have recordings for all instruments)
There will be a sight-reading part of the audition as well, and an improvisation part. For the improv, you must solo in F blues. For Bones and rhythm section, the changes are F7/Bb7/F7/F7/Bb7/Bb7/F7/F7/Gm/C7/F7/C7. Alto and Bari is D7/G7/D7/D7/G7/G7/D7/D7/Em/A7/D7/A7. Trumpet and Tenor is G7/C7/G7/G7/C7/C7/G7/G7/Am/D7/G7/D7. There is a recording below that you can solo along with at home.
