Stephanie San Roman is the Director of Bands at Oswego High School in Oswego, IL. She directs the Wind Symphony and Chamber Winds, assists with the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Pep Band, and co-directs the Marching Band and Pit Orchestra. Mrs. San Roman has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois and a Masters of Music Education from Vandercook College of Music. In addition to her duties at Oswego High School, she has also served as the IMEA District IX Band Representative, Fox Valley Music Festival Secretary, Vice President and President. She also has articles published in The Instrumentalist and Illinois Music Educator. Her guidebook Score Study Fundamentals for the School Band Director is published through Marketing Vision Partners, LLC. Mrs. San Roman was selected as one of the First Runners Up in the 2012 National Band Association Young Conductor Mentor Project Competition. She is also the recipient of the Daryl Thompson Scholarship, the Oswego Foundation for Excellence in Education Grant and the Kendall County Retired Teachers Association Scholarship. Her professional affiliations include Illinois Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference and The National Band Association.
Mr. Schoenbach is Associate Director Bands at OHS. He conducts the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I, teaches School of Rock, and co-directs the Jazz Ensemble II’s and Marching Band. He earned his Master’s of Music Education degree from VanderCook School of Music in 2010, and his Bachelor’s Degrees in Music Education and Music Performance at Northern Illinois University in 2000. While at NIU, he performed in the Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Marching Band, JazzVox, Jazz Combo, Trombone Ensemble, and the much heralded NIU Jazz Ensemble, with which he played with Wynton Marsalis, Slide Hampton, and Jimmy Heath to name a few. Other collegiate performing highlights include winning the Denver Harmony Sweepstakes and singing the national anthem at several Bears games with his vocal quintet, Octane. After NIU, Mr. Schoenbach spent two years in Lockport as the Taft Grade School Director of Music, handling band, choir, and general music classes. From there it was on to Timothy Christian School in Elmhurst, where he spent six years as the Director of Bands in a 5-12 program, taking his high school group to Disneyworld twice and to San Antonio. Mr. Schoenbach teaches private low brass and jazz lessons and has a very active performing life outside of school. He writes for the Instrumentalist magazine.
